In the petrochemical industry, the safety standard EN 1149-5 (in conjunction with EN 1149-3) is all about electrostatic charge. Workers with contact points to petrochemicals or emulsion-like mixtures need workwear that is antistatic and thus equipped against static charge. Protective clothing for the petrochemical industry must also meet the requirements of the protective standard EN ISO 11612, which means that workwear for protection against short-term contact with flames and minimal protection against heat transfer. Heat-resistant work trousers thus provide short-term protection against splashes of chemicals or even smaller splashes of liquid metal, as does the work jacket optionally with or without warning protection properties.
