Plant protection products (pesticides) refer to chemical substances used in agricultural facilities, for green spaces, along roads, etc. to prevent, repel or reduce weed or pest infestations. This does not include biocides. Handling of plant protection products includes mixing and filling, application and cleaning, repair or disposal of contaminated equipment and containers.
Protective clothing according to this standard specification is complex personal protective equipment (PPE) of category 3.
PERFORMANCE CLASSES
Class C1:
- Protects at low risk.
- Materials and seams must have a minimum level of resistance to liquid penetration.
- Can be used as basic protective clothing with additional garments worn when the risk is comparatively higher.
- Not suitable for applications involving concentrated pesticide solutions.
Class C2:
- Protects when the risk is medium.
- The materials and seams must have a higher level of resistance to liquid penetration than C1 protective clothing.
- Can be used as basic protective clothing with additional garments worn when the risk is comparatively higher.
- Not suitable for applications involving concentrated pesticide solutions.
- Provides a balance of protection and comfort.
Class C3:
- Protects when the risk is high.
- The materials and seams must have a minimum level of resistance to permeation.
- Suitable for applications with concentrated and dilute pesticide solutions.
- Short wearing time to prevent heat accumulation and heat collapse.
